01. Hiring Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Duties:

Grid Link has a full-time vacancy for an Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Grid Link is a local Utility Contractor, operating in Thunder Bay since the year 2000. Automotive Mechanic duties include:

Duties:

Installing, maintaining and repairing overhead and underground electrical systems, including power lines and cables, and street lighting systems. Connecting and insulating conductors and related wiring. Climbing poles or operating hydraulic buckets when working on poles and towers.

Requirements:

Red Seal Interprovincial Power Line Technician Certificate. AZ Driver’s Licence. Proficient with Class 4 Rubber Glove Techniques.

Location:

Based out of our Thunder Bay office.

Hours:

40 hours per week with potential for overtime.

Compensation:

This is a Union position, compensation is consistant with the IBEW/ECAO Collective agreement.

Job Summary
Grid Link is looking for a dedicated and experienced Electrical Supervisor/Division Lead to oversee and manage our electrical operations in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding the division, estimating projects, ordering materials, managing the workforce, and tracking job progress from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and participate in the development of construction strategies, project execution planning, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Play an integral role in all stages of the estimating cycle, with ownership of accountability for the estimate and an understanding of the plan created as a result.
  • Communicate consistently with subcontractors and staff the expectations and directions regarding schedules, construction methods, company policies and procedures, permits, safety/loss prevention, quality control, and other performance standards.
  • Implement the coordination of and adherence to the project safety plan. Review construction drawings and specifications, planning and preparation of execution, inspection, testing, and safe work plans, and pre-empt problem areas.
  • Manage team members and conduct performance reviews. With guidance from a senior Superintendent, carry out performance management, disciplinary action, termination, back charges and other required actions.
  • Review billable charges for materials and subcontractor requisitions and approve or deny as appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Electrical Journeyperson Certificate
  • 5+ years of industrial construction experience and a minimum of 3-8 years in a supervisory capacity role.
  • Experience on major projects in the petrochemical oil, gas, mining and power sectors working for an EPCM contractor.
  • Ability to read/understand engineered drawings, specs, details, standards, etc.
  • Knowledgeable with construction schedules.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Works well in a group/team setting as well as alone.
  • Organized and manages time well. Able to prioritize workflow.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Electrician License

Job Summary

Grid Link has a full-time vacancy for a Truck and Coach Technician or an Automotive Mechanic. Grid Link is a local Utility Contractor, operating in Thunder Bay since the year 2000. Automotive Mechanic duties include:

  • Perform general inspections on all different types of motorized equipment
  • Perform repairs on all different types of motorized equipment as required
  • Diagnose engine fault codes and repair as required
  • Diagnose malfunctions of equipment and repair as required
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly service on units as required
  • Complete proper service documentation to ensure accuracy for record keeping
  • Perform all repair in-house or in-field as required
  • Ensure all work order notes are completed accurately and completely
  • Properly complete and file Annual Inspections and Safety Inspection paperwork
  • Understand proper process for ordering parts
